Orthocaproic acid (CAS number 142-62-1) is a straight chain carboxylic acid containing six carbon atoms, with the molecular formula C6H12O2. It is a colorless oily liquid at room temperature, with a melting point of -4 ℃ and a boiling point of 202-203 ℃. It is slightly soluble in water but easily soluble in organic solvents. In industry, it is mainly produced by nitric acid oxidation of secondary octanol, with a reaction temperature range of 50-55 ℃ and a raw material utilization rate of over 80%. As an important organic synthesis raw material, its downstream products include hexanoic acid ester fragrances, pharmaceutical intermediate Jirezoxin, and rubber processing aids. In the food industry, the compound is also used as a blending ingredient of essence such as cream and cheese.
1. Flavor synthesis: as the raw material for the synthesis of ethyl hexanoate, allyl hexanoate and other flavors, it is widely used in the formulation of cream, cheese and fruit essence, and the maximum amount of food additives is 450mg/kg.
2. Production of pharmaceutical intermediates: Used for the preparation of the fungicide Heylresorcinol, which is included in multiple pharmacopoeias and has broad-spectrum antibacterial activity.
3. Manufacturing of industrial additives: As the main component of rubber vulcanization accelerators and varnish drying agents, it can improve material processing performance. Used as a thickener in the field of lubricants to improve high-temperature viscosity characteristics.
4. Raw materials for derivative synthesis: Anhydride (CAS2051 49 2) is generated through esterification reaction, which is used as a pharmaceutical intermediate and special resin synthesis raw material.
